We are a couple of travellers.

We’ve had such a great time experiencing Africa that we decide it would be great to package these amazing stories, not only to share with our fellow travel junkies on the internet, but also as a way to frame the memories for our children, their children and their children’s children. So, before we go on about all the beautiful places we’ve visited (and are yet to visit) it’s important for us to introduce ourselves to you and why we call ourselves a couple of travellers. The obvious reason is that we are in fact a couple – two married couples to be exact. We’re friends that met a couple of years ago at church, brought together by our shared love for serving in ministry.

We’re parents, which is probably our biggest and most cherished job title and calling. But outside of chasing people down the hall way for bedtime or memorising every Cocomelon song to stay relevant, we are a couple of travellers. We appreciate the value that resting provides not just for the body, but for the soul. We also understand the notion of soul deficiency, that you cannot pour from an empty cup and that’s why for us we decided to make it a tradition every year to travel, at least once; to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the busy metro city where we live, exhale and inhale the fresh air of foreign places.
There’s a cheesy travel quote that resonates quite well with us and it says

“you must get lost in order to find yourself”,

and with the familiar spaces we live in, together with the routine that capitalism has forcefully brought us into adherence with, we know that at times our souls get lost and the voice of faith, love, hope and perseverance faces behind the noise. Travel brings all things into perfect silence. All things. And all that’s left to do is to move our bodies into the direction of the sun, dip our feet into the cool sands and swim with the waves. And when we return to our homes our cups are full enough for us to pour into each other (as husbands and wives), into our children, our families as well as our careers.
